Edwards Lifesciences Sr Mgr, Corporate Counsel in Shanghai, China
Provide appropriate legal advice to and manage the legal issues confronting Edwards businesses and functions within Greater China, with the goals of complying with legal requirements and company policies and procedures, and balancing the strategic goals of the company against the legal risks.
Key Responsibilities: • Draft, review and propose modifications to commercial agreements and other contracts (e.g., distributorship, supply, employment, advertisement/marketing materials, bid and tendering document etc.); • Support clinical trials and post-market clinical studies, including the review and negotiation of clinical trial/study contracts, managing adverse events, claims and/or disputes, and recommending a path to resolve the events, claims and/or disputes in a manner that best protects the company's interests; • Provide appropriate, prompt and timely legal advice, and recommend paths to the effective resolution of legal issues; identify and mitigate legal risks; • Monitor and inform management and peers of legal and compliance developments that could impact the company's business; and provide training to internal employees, and vendors and/or distributors as needed, to ensure compliance with laws, company policies and procedures • Assist Legal Director in communicating and coordinating with other departments for legal/compliance matters • Assist Legal Director in managing outside counsels and following up litigation/arbitration cases
Education and Experience: Other: in • Degree from an accredited law school or reputable institution of higher legal education in China, and qualified to practice law in China, 6-8 years years experience post qualification experience Required prior experience with pharmaceutical/medical device industry in China Preferred
Additional Skills: • Native fluency in Chinese; strong proficiency in spoken and written English, and good interpersonal relationship skill; • Proven expertise in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required; and • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and investigative skills • Adhere to all EHS rules and requirements and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
