Edwards Lifesciences Senior Supervisor, Laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah

This is an exciting new role in our laboratory at Edwards Lifesciences! The Senior Supervisor will oversee employees and daily operations within the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex improvement projects resulting in cost reductions and labor/process efficiencies, and facilities.Collaborate with stakeholders in order to provide support and subject matter expertise where needed

  • Supervise and oversee laboratory and other related activities (e.g., testing, inventory ordering/management, calibration, validation, maintenance of equipment and budget/cost control) while establishing objectives in support of the company's strategy

  • Oversee the lab testing that is done in house as well as the sterilization processes

  • Manage load releases

  • Analyze, research, and acquire equipment in collaboration with key stakeholders while executing and approving resource planning, including staffing

  • Lead corporate connections to provide technical expertise on laboratory utilization, design (e.g. workflow)

  • Develop and lead the execution of protocols in collaboration with cross-functional teams in support of laboratory needs

  • Partner with stakeholders on quality, safety and perform root cause investigations, implement corrections/corrective actions and assess effectiveness where required, including direct participation with internal and external audits (e.g. may sit in audit interview, provide responses, etc.)

  • Develop, maintain and present performance and quality metrics

  • Other duties as assigned: (e.g. work with R&D to set up equipment for product and process demonstrations, collaborate with stakeholders on managing and allocation laboratory space requirements, test method transfers and/or improvements, installation of laboratory equipment, work with facilities to plan and develop new labs and installations)

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and laboratory knowledge Required

At least 4 years of previous related experience with full responsibility for all personnel in a laboratory setting Required

Experience leading and fostering multi-cultural teams with cultural sensitivity Required

Additional Skills:

  • Experience working in the medical device industry

  • Experience and understanding of pyrogen testing

  • Experience with sterilization processing

  • Experience with capas and NCRs

  • Proven project management expertise

  • Proven expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably JDE

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills; possessing strong collaboration skills in partnering with cross functional stakeholders in order to achieve objectives, as well as mediating and negotiating the needs of other areas to achieve consensus

  • Full knowledge of GMP, GDP and Health and Safety regulations

  • Substantial knowledge of related laboratory equipment

  • Proven leadership ability, including the ability to supervise/lead employee teams, coach and mentor lower lever supervisors, and effectively provide performance feedback

  • In depth analysis and problem solving in cases without clear precedent

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with equipment and facility

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
