Edwards Lifesciences Director, Human Resources in Salt Lake City, Utah
The Director of Human Resources leads the HR functions and is charged with creating and executing the people strategy. The Director is a strategic key member of the Draper site leadership team and is expected to drive the work necessary to build the Edwards Lifesciences brand as a premier employer. The Director leads a team of HR Business Partners who serve as catalysts in delivering solutions that are aligned with Key Operating Drivers in order to improve organizational performance and contribute to employee engagement.
Be a strategic HR business partner to the Plant General Manager, site leadership team and corporate leadership team to lead the Human Resources function for the Delivery Systems manufacturing organization in Draper, Utah. This includes guiding the plant through continued growth and driving the organization towards higher performance; must have the ability to recommend and influence both strategic and functional change.
Provide HR leadership, skill and proficiency in working closely with employees, local and Irvine HR teams to formulate goals, practices and HR policies/procedures that support business unit strategies and needs while aligning with regional and corporate objectives. Ensure the Draper Plant is in compliance with local laws and follows local practices and company philosophies. Monitor local environment to maintain competitive practices, compensation and benefits and propose changes to Corporate for review as needed.
Develop practices to bridge current abilities to future needs. Diagnose individual, team and organization issues and recommend appropriate interventions. Ability to influence, coach and develop all levels of management through performance feedback and effective management processes. Ensure talent readiness for plant growth and change, including creation of effective leadership programs to develop talent.
Identify and translate the HR needs of the business unit strategy as they pertain to the plant and meet these needs through collaboration with HR Specialists including compensation, benefits, HRIS, learning and development, succession planning, talent management, talent acquisition, organization development, to effectively access and deliver the required services. Initiate, support and/or lead organizational development strategies including change management, conflict resolution, team-building, coaching, intervention, work-climate studies, and/or other necessary strategies. Facilitate organizational structure analysis and redesign organization structure to maximize service delivery and higher performance.
Required Education & Skills:
A minimum of 14 years of relevant HR experience is required, including people management and senior level HR business partner. Must have work experience that demonstrates an ability to be a strategic thought partner for the business.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree; a master's degree is preferred. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of US and Utah labor law and financial acumen skills to manage budgets for the department and plant compensation/benefit programs.
Requires strong, demonstrated communication skills and the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and change; ability to influence decisions across the business; proactive and proficient ability to diagnose problems and identify appropriate interventions; ability to translate client business plans and goals into human resources capabilities needed to achieve results is essential.
Organizational consulting skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface at all levels of the organization and build internal and external relationships.
Must possess effective analytical skills and conflict resolution skills.
A solid track record of community involvement.
Strong time management skills and PC proficiency required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required.
Must be willing and able to travel when required. Trips may be 5 business days in length.
Workday experience is preferred.
Previous experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Previous experience working in a multi-national organization, with complex, matrix structure also strongly preferred.
