Edwards Lifesciences Dir, Business Excellence (Deployment Leader) in Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Summary:

The Business Excellence Deployment Leader is responsible for leading the Business Excellence strategy creation and deployment for the Delivery Systems Network as part of Edwards' Global Supply Chain (GSC). They will work and collaborate with the leadership team in both Draper, Utah and Shannon, Ireland and will be responsible for training, coaching and mentoring on Business Excellence methodologies (including Lean and Six Sigma). The Deployment Leader is also responsible for identifying and achieving successful execution on Value Streams, Kaizens and Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) that deliver the GSC Strategy. The Deployment Leader is responsible for collaborating across the GSC organization to build and improve upon Business Excellence Programs as well as benchmarking to bring proven-practices into the company and into the Delivery Systems Network.

Partner and collaborate with VPs of Operations and Quality, GSC Strategy, GSC Project Management Office (PMO), and Global Business Excellence (BEx) on developing the Business Excellence strategy and roadmap leveraging common methodologies, systems and standards (including Lean and Six Sigma) from conception to completion across assigned network/function (and related sites), while collaborating with functional departments. Foster and accelerate a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business Excellence strategy creation and deployment. Manage and oversee the coordination, deployment and implementation of Lean and Six Sigma projects from conception to completion within assigned network/function (and corresponding sites), while collaborating with functional departments to successfully develop multi-year roadmaps and with defined of objectives, milestones, actions, training activities and projects

  • Oversee project team members and activities with overall responsibility for implementing and sustaining Edwards Operating System (EOS), Operations Maturity Index (OMI), Overall Process Effectiveness (OPE), Value Stream Projects and Value Improvement Programs (VIPs). Develop systems, plan, staff, budget, manage expense priorities, recommend and implement changes to methods through leadership and BEx team members

  • Lead and coordinate plant Lean, Six Sigma, Green & Yellow Belt training programs and serve as a Business Excellence subject matter expert in mentoring, providing knowledge-transfer and technical guidance to belt candidates. Own responsibility for building and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Develop the Business Excellence governance and metrics to ensure results are obtained

  • Align, partner and collaborate with VPs of Operations and Quality, GSC Strategy, GSC Project Management Office (PMO), and Global Business Excellence (BEx) on developing the Business Excellence (BEx) strategy and roadmap leveraging common methodologies, systems and standards

  • Collaborate across GSC and other BEx Deployment Leaders to build and improve upon Business Excellence Programs as well as benchmarking to bring best-practices into the company

  • Lead Industrial Engineering activities (e.g. line layouts, time studies, metric gathering) in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Other incidental duties

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Ten years of Lean and /or Six Sigma deployment experience required.

  • 25% travel required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree with twelve years of Lean and/or Six Sigma deployment

  • Engineering preferred

  • Expert understanding and knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to Lean and/or Six Sigma 9 (experience at completing 30+ cross-functional Lean and/or Six Sigma Projects)

  • Lean or Six Sigma Master Black Belt from a recognized program required

  • Highly results-oriented and hands-on in the leadership of Business Excellence programs

  • Demonstrated experience working with Senior Leadership teams. Ability to influence, facilitate and resolve conflicts at various level of the organization.

  • Extensive experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with management and executive stakeholders

  • Ability to lead change in a matrixed environment and manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

  • Proven successful project management skills with strict attention to detail

  • Flexible and hands on approach to planning and execution

  • Self-motivated with little guidance needed

  • Strong demonstrated team leadership skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems
