Edwards Lifesciences Staff R&D Engineer -Advanced Technology Sensors Lab in Irvine, California

Exceptional opportunity to join an early-stage and growing development team in the Advanced Technology Business unit. Seeking a Staff Engineer to build essential testing capabilities and manage our efforts to evaluate and verify unique sensor technologies. Conceptualize, design, optimize and validate custom test fixtures. Work closely with internal and external test fixture builders, use your project management skills from conceptualization to installation and qualification. Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and lead the conceptualization, design, management of internal and external resources for new bench test methodologies and fixtures

  • Working with the team, develop detailed testing requirements and specifications

  • Collaboration with personnel from several groups and coordination with external partners and internal stakeholders

  • Working closely with our QE group, generate protocols, SOPs, work instructions

  • Analyze results to establish/characterize product or process specifications

  • Develop deep technical knowledge of the usage of new implantable devices

  • Assist with animal labs to help translate and improve in-vitro test methods

  • Lead briefings and internal presentations of progress and results

Qualifications:

  • BS degree is required, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering preferred and a minimum 6 years’ work experience with 5 years of in a testing lab environment

  • Data analysis skills using MATLAB, Excel, Minitab

  • Experience building and optimizing test benches related to fluid dynamics and related sensors (pressure, flow, temperature) is desired

  • Hands-on experience with LabView and other test bench software tools

  • Working and solid understanding of statistical techniques and related tools

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the qualification of test methods/fixtures (IQ/OQ/PQ)

  • Ability to manage resources, tasks and project plans

  • Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills
