Edwards Lifesciences Sr Technologist, Maintenance 2nd Shift in Irvine, California
Applies skill in the preventive and unexpected in-process maintenance of production equipment for commercial products and equipment used in pre-commercial products to ensure ongoing optimum performance, in compliance with EHS, Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices, and other applicable quality and regulatory guidelines associated with medical device manufacturing.
Perform primarily scheduled preventive maintenance routines on a wider range of complex equipment, as well as unscheduled maintenance, and validate user operation in an effort to avoid operation down time, and providing expertise and guidance in resolving complex failures.
Troubleshoot, as well as anticipate issues, and propose solutions to limit downtime and keep production on schedule.
Apply in-depth knowledge of processes in the use of machines to ensure successful outcomes, devise complex process changes, and ensure knowledge transfer to other levels of technicians.
Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement and optimal operations.
Check for failures in equipment and perform corrections and corrective actions to affected areas that have down time, including conducting and writing impact assessment reports of incidents, exception work orders (EWOs), Equipment Non-conformance Reports (NCRs), and Out of Tolerance (OOTs).
Provide training, coaching, guidance, and information to lower level technicians as requested and needed.
On time arrival to work, regular attendance without excessive absenteeism, and working a full 8 hour or longer work period.
Support the plant operations engineering department during, weekends, holidays and company shutdowns.
Other incidental duties (e.g. occasional material transfer, parts deliveries)
H.S. Diploma or trade school program in electric, mechanical, and/or electronics Required
10 years experience; working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, lubrication, pneumatic, boiler, autoclave, and/or HVAC system operations required.
Full knowledge of routine preventive maintenance of production and facilities equipment
Extensive experience in system troubleshooting (e.g., electrical, mechanical, and/or electronics)
Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagram) drawings
Ability to use DMMs (Digital Multi Meter)
Must have previous CMMS experience
Must be able to work with minimum supervision by following detailed maintenance instructions, and provide guidance and training to lower-level technicians
Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
Good communication skills
Strong English language skills, including reading, comprehending, speaking and writing, and good communication skills
Associates Degree or equivalent with trade school program in electric, mechanical, and/or electronics, including internship is highly preferred
Certified in multidisciplinary electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, and controls
Work in team environment, as well as with colleagues from other departments
Experience in a controlled/regulated environment (i.e. pharmaceutical, medical, manufacturing, etc.) is highly preferred
Ability to provide feedback in a professional, direct, and tactful manner
Previous experience with SCADA, Vaisala, or Desigo is a plus
Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to the manufacturing floor operations and clean room medical device manufacturing
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices supporting a medical device and/or pharmaceutical environment
