As a Senior Manager, IT Portfolio Management at Edwards, you play a critical role in our ability to deliver devices that maximize our patient’s recovery and quality of life because you will bring transparency to our portfolio of transformative projects and predictably execute projects/programs that meet and exceed customer expectations aligned to strategic goals.
Our ideal candidate acts as an internal consultant: Accountable and results-driven while prioritizing relationships and communicating fluently with both technical and business leaders.
You will work closely with global leaders and project teams to ensure the practical management and repeatable application of standard work, tools, and methodologies. You will also ensure process by identifying and driving continuous improvement. As a core member of the SPMO, you will also be responsible for the development, deployment, and management of project management personnel and process improvement efforts throughout the organization.
Establish and maintain day to day Portfolio Management and Governance
Liaise with senior management to help structure the focus on top - key projects and roadmaps as it relates to portfolio, program & project, change management and continuous improvement
Ensure that the portfolio is defined, and programs and projects are executed effectively
Develop and maintain detailed project plans through oversight of internal & external staff of assigned projects. Define and track timelines, budget & resources including phase and milestone review requirements
Communication plans and ongoing communication are efficient and effective and that these plans are communicated to team members and stakeholders
Define phase criteria, investment and progress is identified and managed as required to govern the project portfolio effectively
Report project progress to the organization on a regular basis to ensure that stakeholder expectation is properly managed leveraging the SPMO methodology and use of standards as defined
Create the mechanisms created for knowledge sharing and right-practice knowledge transfer between the assigned global and regional organization and across the SPMO project management practitioners
Contribute to the governance for the assigned global and regional organizations in the areas of project management, process improvement, and project consulting, implementation, and execution
Manage projects that cross multiple geographic locations to successful conclusion through oversight of PM’s (internal & external) (measured on delivery to schedule; budget; and required resource quality measures)
Manage internal & external staff for projects from initial definition ensuring objectives and benefits realization are identified and properly executed
Ensure that all programs & projects have identified sponsorship & stakeholders, and work closely with them through change, project objectives and communications gaining alignment, agreement on specific criteria, and measurable project success
Ensure projects are properly resourced (capacity and capability) to deliver agreed upon objectives, and plans include detailed functional and external resource requirements and / or expectation
Manage scope, communicate and escalate project issues, and manage risk in accordance with SPMO processes
Ensure standard enterprise project methodology is applied to all projects considering project dependencies considering global or regional assigned projects
Define Benefit Realization measures and ensure alignment with stakeholders’ expectations
Create and maintain project budgets. Effective management and reporting of costs and benefits throughout project lifecycle in partnership with finance
Upon completion of project execution, lead or co-lead project close out process & lessons learned; ensure project success criteria have been identified, achieved, and lessons learned documented and communicated
Manage, coach and mentor direct reports (internal & external)
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology
12 years’ experience managing large-to-midsize projects and programs of increasing complexity
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in portfolio management experience
7+ years of people management (direct oversight as well as project) experience
Extensive background with project and program management processes, techniques, methodologies, and software
Proven experience in risk management
Proven experience in change management
Demonstrable experience implementing Project Management disciplines and governance in an organization
When deemed safe to do so, ability to travel at least 20% of the time
Lean and Six Sigma certification
Ability to proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization
Strong understanding and work experience with project budgets and financial management
Ability to influence others without having direct authority over them
Excellent organizational, coordination, and presentation skills
Ability to manage vendors and project stakeholders
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
Strong documentation and communication skills
