Edwards Lifesciences Senior Engineer, Global Supply Chain in Irvine, California
The Senior Global Service Engineer’s responsibilities will include:
Lead and execute the development of the Service Strategy for New Product Introduction through analysis of regional requirements in relation to new product development strategies, business/value proposition, overall fit with business objectives, and adherence to product, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Effectively work and collaborate with cross- functional teams to lead key project initiatives (new product development, system enhancements, cost reductions, process improvements, and quality and compliance excellence). Establish project plans to ensure deliverables are driven to completion.
Create, develop, and maintain technical service processes that meets the needs of the technical service centers while maintaining global standardization and compliance.
Use technical principles, problem solving skills, and data analysis to support and problem-solve for service at global service centers and third party suppliers. Lead ongoing improvement initiatives for service, including revenue generation improvements, product service planning, cost improvements, increased efficiencies, quality improvements, and enhanced customer experience.
Plan, organize, and facilitate the Annual Global Technical Service Summit to ensure alignment of regions with new products, new capabilities, service strategies, and future innovation.
Lead and participate in exciting cross functional joint partnership with the commercial team on product service contracts and development of service revenue strategies.
Organize and facilitate weekly service meetings with each region to address servicing activities. Provide and facilitate training for the global service centers on new products and processes.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience or Master’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience required. Prior medical device industry experience is preferred.
Communications ability for presentations, written documents, and verbal. The ability to communicate to senior management, peer levels, and subordinate levels of the organization in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
Abide by HR policies and procedures.
Ability to work cross functionally within a matrix organization to influence the approach and promote the strategic alignment of the cross functional team to the operations strategic vision.
Familiarity with medical device regulations and governance documents (ISO13485, CFR820, etc).
Experience writing and executing protocols for validation of tools, fixtures, equipment, and process.
Capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience. Capable of making decisions based on data, analysis, and problem solving methods (ex: DMAIC) then acting quickly to deploy the resulting desired option.
Experience working with suppliers of electronics components, subassemblies, and finished devices.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and recommendations for non-conforming products.
Travel up to 10%
Understanding of the electronic product service and complaint handling process and techniques in a medical device environment. Experience in working customer facing roles in a service oriented business.
Working knowledge of the supply chain for electronics and electro-mechanical device level products would be beneficial.
Prior medical device or other regulated industry (aerospace, etc) experience is preferred.
