Edwards Lifesciences Manager, Project Management - Implant Network in Irvine, California

Provides leadership and oversight of cross-functional team(s) encompassing high complexity transformation programs. Leads and manages in a matrix organization through influence at all levels of the organization. This position drives program planning and execution and develops strategic options by leveraging their broad knowledge of Operations, specifically in a Medical Device Space. This role will also be responsible for managing projects for Global Supply Chain (GSC), specifically in the Implant Network.

Essential job functions:

  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop, communicate, and measure progress against goals and metrics for program success.

  • Oversees all aspects of the project management life cycle from initiation to closure.

  • Develops and maintains program budget/cost data, seeks trends and advises on corresponding impact to program and recovery plans necessary to achieve budget targets.

  • Implements mitigation plans and effectively communicates the business impact of a risk to the team and keeps Governance and stakeholders informed of risks.

  • Manages project schedules and surfaces/resolves conflicts to maintain project schedule. Schedules and conducts program reviews throughout the design and execution life cycle.

  • Exercises performance management of all team members in cooperation with respective functional managers.

  • Represents and reviews program(s) at the Executive Leadership and Board levels.

  • Integrates external factors (e.g. International Regulations, Government agencies) into the context of timing and development milestones of the program and associated projects.

  • Effectively communicates the value and impact of strategic options to the team.

  • Uses extensive experience and exposure across the portfolio to optimize the strategy and corresponding development plan.

  • Influences cross-functional areas by maintaining and leveraging a professional network with key stakeholders.

  • Works to manage governance expectations, allowing the team to execute the endorsed plan.

  • Leverages industry experience and networks to identify and communicate risks and opportunities that will affect multiple programs and projects while implementing strategies that minimize the risk and/or capitalize on opportunities.

  • Uses change management methodology to successfully address challenges in team behavior or interaction with functional lines.

  • Travel – Approximately 10-25% of work time will be spent traveling.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of managing complex program/portfolio management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree is preferred.

  • Knowledge of GMP’s, current FDA Medical Devices legislation and regulations is preferred.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project and PPM Tools (Clarizen Preferred).

  • Experience identifying, leading, and implementing improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness.

  • Experience with aspects of developing operating plans, performance reporting on goals, and/or strategic planning.

  • Good verbal and written communication with all levels of division.

  • Ability to influence in a matrix style organization.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for successfully managing programs consisting of multiple projects, of varying complexity, within the specified guidelines, timeframes and budgets.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for applying program management techniques, distinct from project management techniques, to ensure the success of multiple projects being managed together in one or more programs.
