Edwards Lifesciences Manager, HR Project Management in Irvine, California

Overview

The Manager, HR Project Management holds an important role in helping shape the future of HR. This individual will serve as a consultant/advisor to various HR teams on a range of projects to create advanced HR solutions to serve our global Edwards employees. We are pioneering solutions and looking for a proven problem solver who is not afraid to pursue new and exciting solutions and services.

The Manager, HR Project Management will manage large scale to enterprise-wide global Human Resources projects. This individual will create a master plan and schedule of HR projects/work streams and oversee the sharing and prioritization of resources among projects. This individual will serve as a project and program management subject matter expert, including guiding and mentoring project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth analysis and evaluation on project timelines with multiple factors such as scope, schedule and resources with knowledge of the H.R. organizational objectives and competing projects and programs. Assess top-level program activities across multiple work-streams and teams.

  • Assess project risks and issues and ensure the teams develop mitigations and resolutions to meet project goals and objectives. Evaluate project status, resources and interdependencies.

  • Utilize relevant tools and processes to assess program and project progress with team members, other project managers, functional managers, senior management and clients.

  • Executes program plans (quality, risk, communication, staffing, etc.) and communicate program status and data in order to maintain accurate and current program information for the use of stakeholders.

  • Determines and discerns detailed requirements on larger scale HR projects to establish the project deliverables, and manages changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs to keep the project management plan updated and reflective of authorized project changes.

  • Facilitates the creation and approval of business cases, and utilizes historical data and expert judgment in order to understand project limitations.

  • Establishes and maintains team members and project stakeholder relationships, expectations, and communications

  • Executes and leads the execution of tasks as defined in the project management plan in order to achieve the project goals, and actively manages project risk

  • Manages HR project closure activities, including gathering lessons learned

  • Serves as an HR project management subject matter expert, including guiding and mentoring other project managers; demonstrates expertise in a business process, professional discipline, market, or product

  • Actively leads one or more HR Project Management Office (PMO) continuous improvement activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, Sociology Management with 10 years of hands-on experience in managing HR related projects of increasing complexity is required.

  • Experience in scrum, Kanban and other Agile methodologies; an agile mindset

  • Expert understanding of HR services while addressing issues with impact beyond own team based on knowledge of related disciplines

  • Expert understanding of related aspects of HR processes and/or systems

  • Proven successful project management leadership skills

  • Proven expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and related systems

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making

  • Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of engineering to the business

  • Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and agile work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, Sociology Management with 8 years of hands-on experience in managing HR related projects of increasing complexity is preferred.

  • Proven successful Organizational Change management and project management leadership skills

  • PMP Certification is preferred
