Edwards Lifesciences Engineering Technician - Component Test Method Development & Validation / New Product Development (THV) in Irvine, California

This Technician role will support all THV new product development projects, focusing on test method development and validation for supplied components. This individual will work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Supplier Engineering, and Manufacturing to understand design requirements and intended use of components in the finished delivery system. This individual will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where taking initiative and collaborating cross-functionally are critical for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly under the close supervision of Engineers

  • Build prototypes, sub-assemblies, and prepare feasibility test units, samples, and/or chemical solutions

  • Perform work using drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions

  • Perform operational test and identify failure modes on systems and equipment

  • Collect and document test data

  • Order and maintain lab supplies and equipment

  • Operate basic lab equipment and perform routine testing

  • On-time arrival to work, regular attendance without excessive absenteeism, and working a full 8 hour or longer work period

  • Other incidental duties (e.g. occasional photo-copying or deliveries)

Minimum Education and Experience :

  • Associate's Degree or technical degree/certificate with (1) year of experience in R&D Lab, Quality, Manufacturing, design, engineering support, or supporting with new product development

  • Experience performing test methods associated with Gage R&Rs, validations, fixturing, and/or vision systems

  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment

Additional Skills & Preferred Experience :

  • Experience within medical device, pharma, biotech, food, automotive, or aerospace industries

  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and Test Method Development best practices

  • Basic or moderate experience with Solid Works

  • Basic or moderate experience with 3D print design

  • Ability to design for machining

  • Ability or experience in programming automated inspection vision systems of high complexity

  • Experienced with robotics

  • Ability to perform complex system design and integration is preferred

  • Basic understanding of inspection equipment in a lab environment

  • Ability to perform more complex troubleshooting

  • Good computer skills, including usage of MS Office Suite

  • Domestic and international travel, as needed. Expected less than 10% travel
