Edwards Lifesciences Director, Treasury in Irvine, California

Edwards Lifesciences is looking for an innovative Director of Treasury to provide strategic leadership to the Treasury organization. This person will manage the team responsible for capital markets, manage liquidity, foreign exchange hedging programs, the share repurchase program, and investment management. This position reports to the Treasurer and interacts with key stakeholders in Treasury, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal and Audit. The position is also responsible for managing a team, establishing and improving relationships, and designing and implementing best practices in treasury processes to support the growth of the company. Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Foreign Exchange exposure management through cash flow, balance sheet, and net investment hedging programs.

  • Direct a team of Treasury professionals and activities with overall responsibility of developing systems, planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, recommending and implementing changes to processes.

  • Plan and direct strategic activities including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects with overall responsibility for meeting business objectives. Lead in identifying risk, developing mitigation strategies, best practices, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc. in collaboration with cross functional and/or matrix teams.

  • Manage foreign exchange and interest rate risk through derivative transactions; oversee accounting and reporting related to these transactions.

  • Lead the planning and execution of investment and borrowing strategies.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain subsidiaries’ capital structures consistent with business, tax and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage the share repurchase program.

  • Develop strategic finance initiatives (rating agency presentations, M&A, and financing requirements) in partnership with key stakeholders.

  • Protect company assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.

  • Develop and support Treasury policies, procedures, and controls to include capital structure objectives and functional responsibilities.

  • Prepare and present to Finance Risk Committee.

  • Participate in special projects and strategic planning activities as needed.

Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics is required. CFA and/or MBA is preferred.

  • A minimum of 12 years of Treasury and Finance experience at a multinational company is required.

  • Ability to lead collaboratively across functional/organizational boundaries.

  • Ability to persuade, convince, and influence others to gain support and to build relationships to achieve business results.

  • Knowledge of automation through AI machine learning, robotics, etc. is desired.

  • Ability to drive results in a fast-paced/deadline-oriented environment

  • Sense of urgency and adaptability to changing environment.

  • Excellent quantitative, analytical and financial skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external partners.

  • Proactively seek information and technology to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
