Edwards Lifesciences Director, Human Resources - Critical Care & Vascular in Irvine, California

Our HR Business Partner team serves as a catalyst in delivering HR solutions that support the specific needs of our organization. This position will lead the Human Resources function for our Critical Care & Vascular (CCV) business unit based on the headquarters campus in Irvine, CA. As the HR Director, you will build relationships with the Corporate Vice President, CCV, the CCV leadership team and respective organizations, partnering as a strategic consultant to management on all aspects of Human Resources - talent acquisition, training and development, organizational development, employee relations, leadership coaching and compensation matters. The HR Director will proactively assess and diagnose organizational issues in partnership with Management making recommendations and implementing solutions to recruit, motivate, develop and retain our employees. This role will have one to two direct reports with responsibility for the CCV functions of R&D, Marketing, US Sales, Regulatory, Strategy and Finance.

Our ideal candidate is a business-oriented professional with strong consulting skills who is well versed in US, as well as California, labor law and practices, manage multiple priorities and interface with our internal customers. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Be the strategic HR business partner to the Corporate Vice President, CCV and leadership team, as well as lead the Human Resources function for the Critical Care & Vascular business unit.

  • Provide HR leadership, skill and proficiency while working closely with the management team to formulate goals and practices that support business unit strategies.

  • Act as a change agent to guide client groups through cultural transformation efforts, and drive the organization toward higher performance results, recommending and influencing both the strategic and functional change.

  • Provide leadership for the development of key capabilities and talent across the organization leading to improved business results and a highly engaged workforce.

  • Partner with the Critical Care & Vascular Leadership Team to champion our Edwards culture, demonstrate the principles of our Edwards Secret Sauce and engage our employees.

  • Initiate, support and/or lead organizational development strategies including change management, conflict resolution, teambuilding, coaching, intervention, and/or other necessary strategies.

  • Facilitate organizational structure analysis and redesign organization structure to maximize service delivery and higher performance.

  • Provide guidance to management on a wide variety of matters, including employee relations, Human Resources processes and/or company guidelines and/or programs.

  • Develop practices to bridge current abilities to future needs. Diagnose individual, team and organization issues and recommend appropriate interventions. Ability to coach and develop all levels of management through performance feedback and effective management processes.

  • Provide HR expertise and/or partner with functional HR Centers of Expertise in various areas such as talent management, talent acquisition, organization effectiveness, compensation, benefits, as well as training and development.

  • Create, implement and/or manage HR programs and services that are aligned with corporate culture, operating model, and corporate HR and business strategies.

  • May coordinate the HR aspects of merger and acquisition activities, functional consolidations, or other large HR initiatives for the assigned business groups.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12 years applicable experience is required. Senior level generalist experience and skill set required. Must have work experience/education that demonstrates full knowledge and application of effective HR methodologies with a business mindset.

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of US, as well as California, labor law and financial acumen skills to manage budgets for the department.

  • Requires strong, demonstrated communication skills and the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and change; ability to influence decisions across the business; proactive and proficient ability to diagnose problems and identify appropriate interventions; ability to translate client business plans and goals into human resources capabilities needed to achieve results is essential.

  • Organizational consulting skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work in a fast paced environment are essential.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface at all levels of the organization and build internal and external relationships.

  • Must possess effective analytical skills, conflict resolution skills and a proven record of effective influence and interactions at all levels of an organization.

  • Strong time management skills and PC proficiency required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required, as well as working knowledge of HR software tools.

  • Ability to travel approximately 5%: domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree is preferred.

  • SPHR Certification is a plus.

  • Experience in healthcare/pharma/medical device industry is a plus.
