Edwards Lifesciences Associate Manager, Supply Chain (Buying) in Irvine, California

Position Summary:

Responsible for supply chain activities, specifically, purchasing of components to support R&D and clinical builds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create materials requirement plan for components needed to supplier R&D and clinical builds.

  • Create supplier forecast to meet material requirements plan.

  • Work directly with suppliers to maintain expected delivery dates on time and negotiate, as needed, priorities, expedites, costs.

  • Perform a variety of complex analyses (e.g., pipeline, back-orders, scenarios) including financial absorption forecast

  • Identify, evaluate, and optimize supply chain alignment and opportunities while exercising considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment to drive value for the business

  • Provide direction and guidance to teams to execute supply chain projects and/or initiatives

  • Lead cross functional teams to resolve obstacles to meeting the schedule, including, but not limited to, resolving issues with non-conforming materials, unclear specifications, capacity constraints both internally and at supplier locations.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Eight years of experience in planning/buying in medical device industry required

Additional Skills:

  • Proven successful project management skills

  • Proven expertise in MS Office Suite

  • Expert in related database and systems (e.g., Qlikview, JDE)

  • Good facilitation and presentation skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent documentation, communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative skills

  • Extensive knowledge of own area within the organization while contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards

  • Extensive understanding of Edwards policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to local and/or global supply chain including FDA and ISO laws and regulations

  • Ability to transfer essential knowledge and mentor other team members on specialized skills

  • Good knowledge of global regulations and restrictions applicable to distribution

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Represents leadership on sections of projects within a specific area interfacing with project managers and cross functional teams

  • Consult in a project setting within specific sections

  • Adhere to all EHS rules and requirements and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
